- Activism awards ceremony
Panels include “Eco-Art: Past, Present and Future” with Susan Leibovitz Steinman, Deborah Thomas and Ruth Wallen. “Collaboration and Community” with Jennifer Colby, Susan Leibovitz Steinman, Deborah Munk and Tierney Thys and “Activism: Making a Difference” with Samantha Fields, Michelle Lapinski, Beverly Naidus, Daniella Russo and Andree Singer Thompson.
The Eco-film festival will include “Dirty Secret” from the Strange Days on Planet Earth series, Fierce Green Fire, a documentary of the Southern California WCA eco-art group and films by Basia Irland.
Special appearance by “Capacitor”, San Francisco’s inter-disciplinary dance company.
This conference also features lots of interactive activities such as:
- Participate in recycling at the conference by bringing an old conference badge (or two) and decorating them
- A postcard trading wall where you can bring postcards you’ve made with recycled materials and trade them with others
- Join discussion groups over lunch on current eco-topics
- Making prayer flags
- Creating a shrine
- Viewing a water-themed postcard exhibition – you can take a postcard home for a $5 donation (per card)
The day ends with an Eco-Art Activism Award Ceremony and Reception. Califia Awards will be presented to California women visual arts professionals withoutstanding career achievements in the field of eco-art activism. The Catalyst Award will be presented to a woman visual arts professional under the age of 40 who is making a significant impact with an exemplary project, artwork or artistic collaboration.
The caterer for Elements is Back to Earth, which sources the freshest local organic ingredients. They have an unwavering commitment to choosing only foods that are cultivated safely, justly and sustainably. When registering online, participants may choose from these selections:
Vegan: Cannelini Bean Puree & Roasted Vegetables on Focaccia, with mixed greens salad vinaigrette
Vegetarian: California Mozzarella, Heirloom Tomatoes & Fresh Basil on Herbed Focaccia, Served with marinated summer vegetables
Gluten-free: Citrus Quinoa Salad with Grilled Chicken, served with whole fresh fruit
